Spectacular fusion with Bowie on latest album Loving the Alien
”David Bowie´s audacity for challenging the social norms and straying off the beaten path is our inspiration. He´s challenging us not to compromise with ourselves and to dare follow your heart as well as standing up for yourself. Having this mindset, we´ve challenged ourselves to make his songs ours”says Miriam Aida regarding the album process.
By taking influences from Afro-Brazilian rhythms, jazz, reggae and a pinch of Swedish melancholy they perform songs from different eras from Bowies career (1969 – 2016). The band (consisting of Mats Andersson – 7 string acoustic guitar along with percussionists Ola Brothzén & Finn Björnulfson) has formed a magnetic sound together during their 12 year career and they´ve already toured Sweden, Denmark & Finland to promote their new album.
Miriam has roots from both Sweden & Marocko and she´s always been set on creating a bond with her audience surpasses nationality, cultur, language, gender & religion. She´s been featured on tv-shows like: Allsång på Skansen (2006 – 2011), SVT ́s Luciafirandet, SVT´s program Sverige & Go´kväll. Being a columnist (LIRA, Ystad allehanda, P2 Jazzradion), show host & producer for Sveriges Radio P2 live she´s today regarded as an interesting and accomplished profile in culture. In 2017 she was granted the honorable job of interviewing Polar prize Award winner Wayne Shorter at the PolarPrize/Polar Talks. All of her 10 solo albums have been praised by the critics, many of who themselves have been nominated for Grammis, Manifestpriset and Folk och världsmusikgalan.
