I´ve never seen this type of energy outside the islands I´m from – definitely not in Sweden! – Wyclef Jean
This is the band that offers festival atmosphere and creates carnival magic! Regardless of the weather, time and location, the band manages to transport their audience to New Orleans and Mardi Gras. Music, dance, community, joy and a full blowing section mean that it is not uncommon for the evening to end with the audience hooking up in a carnival train.
"Louisiana Avenue was founded in 2012 after I came home after my third straight year at JazzFest in New Orleans", says singer and circus director Pär Stenhammar. "The consequences of the trips resulted in an abundance of inspiration to spread the joy from "French Quarter" home to Sweden. To my great delight, I found a motley band of like-minded people and in true New Orleans spirit we have an age range ranging from 25 years up over 70 years."
The band started playing at festivals, concert halls, car clubs, cruise ships, caravans, dinner events and major corporate events.
In January 2019, the debut album "2107 Delachaise" was released and after the release concert at the club “Fasching”, Louisiana Avenue was announced "Sweden's best live band!" by Anders Pihl at LIRA magazine.
In August 2019, the band invited to "Kärleksfesten" in Sofia Church in Stockholm. A combined wedding with a party and concert that received a lot of attention and should not be seen as a one-off event.
Due to the pandemic Louisiana Avenue had to take an involuntary break in 2020, but in its slumber the band longs for a party with a capital P. With longing for happiness, joy, dancing and to perform for a crowd once again, Louisiana Avenue stands ready to deliver – and everyone is invited to join them!
