Did you know that Elvis wasn´t the first one to record Hound Dog? Let´s embark on an intense musical journey starting in 1920´s Mississippi!
Ladies got the blues is not just a band consisting of the gathered blues elite of Sweden, but also a personal tribute to the female musicians who´ve strongly contributed in developing the genre over the years – women who´s musical accomplishments may not as well known and documented as their male collegues.
Since 2014, the band has toured around Sweden and rest of Europe doing their show. Let´s embark on a musical journey spanning from 20´s Mississippi to the Swedish 2000´s scene and enjoy music like:
-Sister Rosetta Tharpe (1915-1973) – Guitarist, composer & singer that has inspired artists like Aretha Franklin, Chuck Berry, Elvis Presley and Tina Turner.
- Memphis Minnie (1897-1973) – Guitarist, composer & singer who was inducted into the Blues Foundations Hall of fame in 1980. She recorded about 200 songs that have been interpreted and recorded by other artists as well like Jefferson Airplane & Led Zeppelin f a e.
-Big Mama Thornton (1926 – 1984) Singer and composer who was the first one to record the song Hound Dog that later turned out to be a big hit on the Billboard charts in 1953.
